Barriers Beyond Roe

A workshop addressing barriers abortion providers face at different scales within the built environment

With abortion care now recognized as a constitutional right in Michigan, thanks to a citizen-initiated ballot proposal, and the Reproductive Health Act eliminating certain access barriers, this workshop zooms in on the challenges faced by abortion providers at different scales within the state—region, site, and clinic. Beyond the legal landscape, we'll explore how regulations directly shape our built environment and consider our collective agency in enhancing accessibility. Emphasizing the vital role of interdisciplinary collaboration, professionals, advocates, and interested people from diverse fields—architecture, medicine, and policy —will come together to brainstorm practical solutions for making the built environment more inclusive. Join us in this impactful discussion as we navigate the complex intersection and our shared commitment to improving abortion care access.
